What kind of antenna should I buy?

For best reception, your choice of antenna can make a difference. Antenna categories include both indoor and outdoor, which are effective at different distances. There are indoor 30-mile antennas for channels within a 25 mile radius, indoor 50-mile antennas for channels within a 50 mile radius, and outdoor antennas effective for channels within a 65+ mile radius. If you live in an area with a lot of interference from hills or mountains or have a great distance from the tower, the higher you can mount your antenna the better the signal. Beware that in some areas with bad terrain, even the best antenna won’t be able to pick up a signal. For more information go to https://antennaweb.org/.

I have my TV in a metal cabinet. Will an indoor digital antenna work for me?

Not necessarily. Any large metal objects may prevent the signal from reaching your antenna. For best results, you must place the antenna outside of or above the metal cabinet.

My home has aluminum siding/insulation. Where should I place my antenna?

To minimize interference and improve your signal reception, position the antenna near a window.

Can I use an antenna in my basement?

TV signals usually cannot penetrate into basement locations due to their lower elevation.

Do I need to pay for programming?

No. Programming received through a digital antenna is free.
