Maylen’s family lost their home in a flash flood caused by Typhoon Durian in the Philippines. Their entire community was now under water.

"We’ve lost everything," says Malen of the damage caused by the flood.

Maylen was among the first in line to receive emergency supplies from Operation Blessing. Along with the basics of food and water, Operation Blessing provided clothing, medicine, and medical assistance for hundreds of survivors at this one evacuation center.

Operation Blessing also gave Maylen a grant to put up a small convenience store.

"This is such a big help to us. I am very grateful," says Maylen.

Just a few months after the flood, Maylen’s family is back on their feet. Her husband has found work as a carpenter. And Maylen is enjoying running her small business from their new home. Her income helps provide for their family's needs and is sending her three older children to school.

She also makes sure she sets aside her tithe for church every Sunday. And business is doing so well that Maylen dreams of putting up a grocery store in two years.

"Because of this store, our lives are even better now than before the typhoon came," she says.

"Thank you, Operation Blessing, for this new beginning. I will do my best to make this business grow even more," says Malen.
