Church of the Week: Winning the Youth for Christ

"This is a town where everybody's related and everybody knows everybody. And it's a family community and I'm part of that family," says Greg Sullivan, the youth director at First Baptist Church of Fort Ogden.

Arcadia is a rural area... surrounded by small towns. And though it's mainly a retirement community, the youth ministry here at the First Baptist Church of Fort Ogden thrives.

"It's like a main point because we don't have, you know, the mall or much stuff in Arcadia," twins from the church say. "It's definitely one of the main...social points…. Yeah, social points in Desoto County.”

“Our purpose is to lead kids to know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. And for them to grow in a personal relationship with Him. And everything we do centers around that," pastor Greg says. "We're very blessed with what God has given us and we use it to lift up Jesus Christ."

Great events and dedicated youth leaders make this ministry strong. But Greg Sullivan knows what really brings the youth in.

Pastor Greg says, "Small church, big church, it doesn't matter. If you'll lift up Jesus Christ, you'll draw the kids. If He be lifted up, He'll draw all men unto Him. It's the gospel of Jesus Christ that's going to make the difference.”
