The Gangsta Days are Gone

Dtreetoon of Thailand enjoys teaching his young friends about the love of Jesus—and tries to protect them from the life he once led. By the time Dtreetoon became a teenager, he’d become infamous as the village gangster. With a cigarette in one hand and beer in the other— he was not someone you wanted to mess with.

But one day, Dtreetoon saw several men mugging an old man — and everything changed.

“I wasn’t sure what got into me, but I felt so much pity for the old man. I knew I had to help him. So I went and tried to scare away the bullies,” says Dtreetoon.

Dreetoon decided to help the old gentleman, but instead was beaten up himself.

“I was hurting really bad! I told myself -- I should stop doing the same to other people. It was a very painful lesson to learn.”

Dtreetoon’s injuries needed attention—that’s when he came across an Operation Blessing medical mission that had come to his village. And though he simply came to receive medical care, he came away with something more when an Operation Blessing volunteer offered to pray for him.

“It was an amazing time. I felt the love of God through that prayer,” he says.

Soon after that prayer, Dtreeton asked Operation Blessing to help him take a six month Bible class—which he recently finished. Today, Dtreetoon’s life is a far cry from the gangster days of his youth.

“I thank God for what CBN has done for me. They did not really know me then, but they helped me and treated me like family. Now I am able to live life with a purpose!“
