Pray for America - Day 38

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you.  –

DAY 38: "Timely Prayers"

How many times have we been asked to pray for someone and we give them our assurances that we will, and then we never do?

One of the disciplines of the early church was prayer. Whether meeting in large groups in the Temple or smaller gatherings in homes, believers in the early church were devoted to prayer. Their dedication may have found them praying in the morning, at noontime, or in the evening. Perhaps they were like Paul and Silas, who prayed and sang hymns to God at midnight. How can we, the church, respond to each other’s needs by praying more effectively? One answer is to pray spontaneous prayers. For example, if someone came to you and shared a burden, you would ask if you could pray for them. If they agree, you would begin praying at that moment. When being led by the Spirit of God, prayers that are voiced in His timing can bring healing, restore joy, minister encouragement, and rekindle hope in the hearts of people needing to know someone cares. Let’s pray more often face to face, or on the phone, at the very moment the need is made known.

Pray that believers across America are sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s timing of our prayers and that we fulfill our commitments to keep praying for others.
